And just like that the CV show 2019 has come to a close, and yet again it proved to be another fantastic event!  Below is a summary of the key takeaways we brought back this year:

Electric vehicles

With the recent introduction of the London ULEZ and Clear Air Zones starting to be introduced across the UK, it’s no surprise that Electric Vehicles were a key focus at this CV Show. The interest electric vans is increasing, as the charging infrastructure across the UK is improving and costs for alternative fuels are starting to decrease.

The number of product launches and new EV vans on display at this year’s CV Show indicates the investment being made by manufacturers to bring an exciting range of ultra-low and zero emission vans to market and we expect to start seeing more of these EV models becoming the vehicles of choice as replacement cycles for our customers’ fleets come to an end over the next year or so.

Technology and data

Data is everywhere! And the CV show was no exception. The amount of technology and data providers showcasing their products at the CV Show is increasing year on year. From autonomous emergency braking to overload indicators, there were some fantastic innovative products on display at this year’s show.

Data is also looking to play a critical role in making the roads safer, enabling fleet and transport managers to better manage their vehicles in a drive to increase operational efficiency and achieve cost savings.

Highways England announced their important research into a new technology that could help reduce commercial vehicle tyre failures by 75% on the country’s strategic road network – improving safety and cutting the economic cost caused by delays because of tyre-related incidents.

Conversions

There was an impressive range of conversions on display at this year’s show, enabling the transformation of newly purchased vans into fit for purpose workshops on wheels.  An extensive range of conversion solutions were on exhibition to meet the specific layout needs of individual businesses.

For example, the newly branded Modul System, formerly TEVO, demonstrated the new range of trade vehicles equipment, System Edstrom took the opportunity to show their new corporate colours which complimented the range of racking on display and other convertors, familiar to the shows attendees, equally displayed some impressive product range available.

It was very interesting to see how mainstream Converters are adapting their racking solutions as a result of the introduction of EV’s and restricted payload due to increase in battery weight.
