Celebrating Earth Day 2023 at KINTO

To celebrate Earth Day this year, we’ve organised a ‘Go Green Week’ campaign. We invited all our employees to participate with the aim to support greener travel.

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated globally to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage people to take actions.

In the UK, transportation is the number one contributor to greenhouse gases. The air pollution remains one of the major causes for many respiratory diseases such as asthma and lung cancer. Statistics show that Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) is linked to 36,000 early deaths in the UK each year.

To support our green initiative, our employees were encouraged to use our KINTO Join app to commute to work either by walking, cycling, carpooling and/or using public transportation for at least 1 day between the 17th and 21st of April.

KINTO Join is a commuting app that helps businesses meet their sustainability goals, resolve parking issues and improve commuters’ experience. Importantly, it helps to reduce a company’s CO2 footprint and car park demands, and makes reporting positive environmental impact easy.

Our Mobility Business Development Manager, Michael McKerracher, said: ‘’ We were delighted to witness a considerable number of our colleagues registering and utilising the KINTO Join app for their daily commute. Over the next few weeks we have some fantastic new features and app improvements coming and we hope that all of our colleagues will find the sustainable commuting option that fits them best. We intend to keep promoting the app internally to uphold our commitment at KINTO to the environment and support our employees in driving down the cost of commuting.’’

Nicki McCormick, Purchasing Associate at KINTO and a regular app user, said: ‘’ I’ve been using KINTO Join since its launch. I commute by bike nearly everyday and use the app to register all my journeys – love watching the stats add up. I love that by cycling to and from work I am reducing my carbon footprint, and KINTO Join app shows me how much CO2 I am saving by doing so. Being aware of these small differences our commutes can make to the environment helps mitigate the effects of global climate change for future generations.’’

We’ve also taken part in the Lakeside North Harbour’s initiative by sponsoring one of the 15 trees that were recently planted on the site.
