Even though the automotive industry is under great pressure, the EV market is continuously growing. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) , 2021 was a record breaking year for EVs uptake, as more EVs were registered last year than in the previous 5 years combined. Unfortunately, issues such as the Covid-19 pandemic,  shortage of HGV drivers and parts e.g. semiconductors are impacting the whole of the automotive supply chains. Recent reports are stating that the repercussions of some of the issues will continue to  impact vehicle build, supply and deliveries well in to 2023. Visit our Industry Information Hub for more information.

To support the transition to zero emission vehicles, the UK government’s total funding committed is £3.5 billion. The government’s ambitious are to improve the EV charging infrastructure, support the electrification of UK vehicles and their supply chains and provide different grants and initiatives to the end users.
