World EV Day

Today,it’s World EV Day – a celebration of emobility. It aims to raise awareness and drive the change to shift the transition to sustainable transport.

In the UK, one of the leading causes of air pollution is transportation. Air pollution has negative effects on health, and is a major cause for premature all-cause mortality. It is linked to many respiratory diseases, lung cancer, asthma, stroke and development of coronary heart diseases.

For this reason, we wanted to share some information and a few handy tools to help you move towards a more sustainable future.

  • Better for the environment – Fully EVs have zero tailpipe emissions, which means they are greener, cleaner and better for our environment.
  • Cheaper to maintain – EVs have fewer moving parts than cars with an internal combustion engine. This means there are less things requiring maintenance and servicing is simpler. All of which could significantly save money.
  • Cheaper to run – Compared to petrol or diesel, electricity is cheaper. On a cost per mile basis this means a pure electric car could cost a third (or less) of what a traditional petrol or diesel car might cost.
  • Convenient charging – The benefit of electric vehicles is that they can charge wherever there is an appropriate electrical socket- so while you are sleeping at home, in your work place car park whilst you do your 9-5, or even while you do your weekly shop at the supermarket using the free public charge points. Find out all public charging points here: https://www.zap-map.com/live/
  • Government funding – From the Road to Zero, to Government Grants and 1% BIK, take a look at how the government plans to turn the UK Green and how you could be saving money too – https://www.kinto-uk.com/ev-hub/ev-government-legislation/

Switching to an EV may seems like an overwhelming process and for this reason we created a few tools to help you on the journey. Use our Vehicle Navigator to see if an EV is best for you.

For example, research shows that some drivers are concerned about driving an E&HV in the rain. It is proven that E&HVs are waterproof and can be driven in any weather conditions, as well as being charged. Charge points are also waterproof, have been tested and are installed in accordance to the relevant safety regulations. Transport isn’t just how we move around, it also shapes our cities, affects our health and quality of life. In November, the UK government announced that from 2030 new diesel and petrol cars and vans will no longer be sold, and that from 2035 all new cars and vans must be fully zero emission at the tailpipe. Changing the way we travel is crucial and if we do it the greener way, we would be able to create a better environment for all.
