Lack of E-LCV – barrier to electrifying fleets

In March, we shared a poll to identify what is the main barrier to electrifying your commercial vehicles.

We asked our Commercial Vehicle Specialist Kellie Davis to address each barrier individually, so this week she shared her views on lack of E-LCV availability.

Kellie, can you share with us your views on lack of E-LCV as a barrier to electrifying fleets?

I have to say, I am very impressed with the catalogue of vehicle available on the market currently and the promise of even more to come in the next few years. There is really something for almost every need, I say almost as there is still a gap in the market for the more long distance heavy load drivers that I am sure in the coming years Hydrogen will bridge this gap.

As manufacturers have had to diversify some production lines and in some cases factories to the production of EVs, the availability may well surprise you as in most cases EV lead-times are shorter than for ICE vehicles.

What is your advice to fleet managers?

I keep saying this but working with a fleet consultant can help you save a lot of time and nerves! Also, consider all the challenges that the market is currently facing and plan ahead to avoid delays.

I’m always happy to help if you have any questions. If there’s anything you would like to further discuss, please get in touch.
