Interview with KINTO’s Commercial Vehicle Specialist Kellie Davis

We interviewed our Commercial Vehicle Specialist Kellie Davis, who joined the Sales & Account Management team in April 2021 and is already affectionately known as Kellie KINTO.

Keep reading to find out more about her role, the industry as well as who is Kellie Davis outside of work.

Can you tell us a bit more about your role at KINTO?

My role as Commercial Vehicle Specialist is a constantly evolving role. My main focus is to seek and review vehicles, equipment and services in order to best advise our customers and the Sales team. I guess I am a problem solver too, I will be presented with a job that needs to be carried out and I will advise on the products that are available and how they are fit for purpose.

I also look to pass on my knowledge to the wider team by hosting training events, giving teams the chance to get hands on with the vehicles and equipment we have on fleet.

How would you describe your role at KINTO to a child?

I am a commercial vehicle personal shopper, I get to know as much as I can about vans and trucks so I can tell our customers and staff to help them choose the best van or truck for them.

Where do you see the automotive sector in 10 years?

10 years wow … In my mind, it will be maxed out with electric and hopefully hydrogen for the bigger and longer-range needs, although ICE vehicles will still be around as not everyone will be able to afford new or even second hand EVs. I am hoping with more EVs, the need to charge more and adopt a different way of working that the pace of life will slow a little as the world seem to have reached a super-fast pace.

What is the future for electric vans?

Battery technology has come so far recently but I feel the need for hydrogen will soon become more apparent to the UK government. This would be a more comparative solution to the ICE vehicles available around payload and range capabilities.

And who is Kellie outside KINTO? What are your hobbies?

Mum of 3 amazing kids, we are all motorsport mad with my eldest 2 already racing at UK circuits in the Fiesta Championship with my youngest joining them next year. This is more of a lifestyle than a hobby as myself and my husband are the entire pit crew maintaining and repairing the race cars and race transporter.

Name your biggest achievement, either personal or professional.

This is a tricky one, apart from managing to raise 3 awesome kids, I suppose I am particularly proud of the work I have done in promoting Women In. I have hosted and taken part in a number of women into engineering, construction and STEM events, showing women that certain roles are not just for men.

Who inspires you?

I take inspiration from many people on a daily basis, no one person fits this bill.

From my kids who push themselves to achieve, my friends who mostly work for emergency services who tirelessly work to keep us safe, to strangers that I come across who share stories of overcoming adversity and are seemingly humble and accepting.

If you could give one advice to your young self what would it be?

Train to be a dentist, mine seems to work 2 days a week and has more holidays than Santa.

On a serious note – don’t doubt yourself for one second, you can do whatever you put your mind to, so buckle up.
