Bradford’s Clean Air Zone

Clean Air Zone

On Monday, 26th September 2022 Bradford is introducing a Class C + Clean Air Zone (CAZ) to tackle the city’s pollution levels, which are currently above the legal limits.

Many cities across the UK are introducing CAZ to improve air quality. If your vehicle exceeds the emission standards, you may have to a pay a charge if you drive in a CAZ. All electric vehicles are exempt.

Vehicles which don’t meet the emission standards will need to pay the following daily charge to drive through Bradford’s CAZ.

  • Private hire minibus 5-8 seats (non- wheelchair accessible vehicles), private hire vehicles and hackney carriages – £7 daily charge
  • LGVs and minibuses – £9 daily charge
  • Coaches, buses and HGVs – £50 daily charge

Charges will not apply to passenger cars and motorbikes, even if used for work.

If your vehicle doesn’t meet the requirements, you may need to pay the daily charge. To check your vehicle’s emissions, you can use the GOV.UK’s vehicle checker.

The Bradford’s CAZ will cover the area inside, and including, the Bradford outer ring road. It will also extend out along the Aire valley corridor, (Manningham Lane/Bradford Road and Canal Road area) to include Shipley and Saltaire.

To check specific area in the district by road name or postcode, you can use the interactive CAZ map.
