28 KINTO employees abseil down the Spinnaker Tower to help raise money for charity

A team of 28 KINTO employees abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower on Sunday, 17 July to help raise money for Rowans Hospice, which is one of KINTO’s chosen corporate charities, picked by the staff.

Matthew Orme, one of the abseilers said: ‘’ With everything we’ve all been through in the last 2 years, doing something as a team to help such a good cause is great opportunity to show what we can achieve when we all band together. Beth Jones added: ‘’I’m taking part in memory of my Grandad Roy who was cared for by the Rowans Hospice. I’m so thankful for what they do!’’

The collective target was to raise £5600, but the team managed to reach over £6650.

Carol Milner, Director of Income Generation and People Services at Rowans, commented: “We are delighted and so grateful to KINTO for their support of the Rowans Hospice Charity in their quest to generate much needed income for local Hospice care and to help raise awareness of the Charity’s services. Their photographs from their abseil down the Spinnaker Tower are phenomenal and we would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has kindly donated to their fundraising page. The Charity provides palliative and end of life care to the highest quality for those living with a life-limiting illness in Portsmouth and South East of Hampshire. Our highly trained teams help to improve quality of life for the patient by easing physical symptoms, as well as offering psychological, spiritual and social support to both patients and their loved ones. We provide dedicated Hospice care around the clock, either within our In-patient unit or within the home setting, as well as offering services for day visitors in our Living Well Centre. Whilst our care is provided free of charge, we are in fact a charity and 90% of our income is generated by voluntary giving, fundraising events such as the abseil that KINTO completed, and our retail shops. It is thanks to the generous donations and fundraising from people like the KINTO employees that we can continue to provide much needed support to the community and make a difference to so many lives.”

Throughout the whole year, here at KINTO we’ve been organising different activities, aiming to raise £12000 for our corporate charities Rowans Hospice and MDUK.

Future initiatives include the Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge in September, where 11 KINTO employees will walk 50km, and in October KINTO’s CEO Matthew Rumble will be running the Great South Run in a fancy dress if we hit £10000 on our charity barometer by the end of September.
